Jarocin insulation - Fargum maintenance and cover mass

Fargum is a dense fluid mass of brick-brown color. It is an aqueous dispersion of asphalt in petroleum modified with synthetic rubber, with the addition of emulsifying agents, corrosion inhibitor, dye and substances reducing the freezing point of water.

Advantages

Fargum is sold as a ready-to-use mass. Mix well before use. Fargum does not require heating - it is used for cold use. Easy to spread with a trowel, brush or brush. Thanks to thixotropic properties it can be applied to surfaces of any slope and does not drip during application. It does not contain toxic, volatile and flammable organic solvent, it is odorless.
After drying, fargum creates a brick-brown, homogeneous, flexible coating with rubber-like properties, resistant to long-term exposure to water. It is characterized by very good adhesion to asphalt felt, concrete, wood, metals and polystyrene. Coatings made of fargum are characterized by high resistance to changing weather conditions and flexibility in a wide temperature range from -30 C to +100 C. Due to the high softening temperature, Fargum coatings do not show a tendency to flow from sloping surfaces. Fargum does not destroy foam, therefore it can be used for coatings that come in contact with foam boards.

Method of use

Fargum can be applied manually or mechanically to dry as well as slightly moist surfaces. Work should only be carried out in rainless weather, at a temperature of min. +10 C. The substrate should be initially cleaned of impurities and excess loose powder and the damaged fragment should be repaired in the covering in a traditional way. Before laying the basic layers, the substrate should be primed with fargum diluted with water in a ratio of 2: 1 or dispersion diluted in a ratio of 1: 1. For substrates with low water absorption, dilution of fargum is not recommended. Fargum is most conveniently applied with 1.0 - 2.0 m wide strips, in layers with a maximum thickness of approx. 1 mm. The coating should be applied at least twice, always after the previous layer has completely dried, which is known after changing the color from red to brick-brown (the time of coating formation depends on atmospheric conditions and e.g. at +20 C is about 6 hours). For roofing, the last layer, immediately after its application to increase the durability of the coating, can be sprinkled with roofing powder in the appropriate color.
Approximate consumption of fargum is 0.5 - 1.0 kg / m2 with a single application of 1 mm thick layer.
Fargum is a non-flammable and non-toxic material. As an ecologically safe material, it does not pose any hazards during work. All impurities and tools should be washed away with fresh water, and after drying with organic solvents (petrol, kerosene, diesel).

Transport and storage

Fargum should be transported and stored in tightly closed original packaging at a temperature above + 5 C.
Due to the water content, the mass loses its useful properties after freezing.
