In road engineering, expanded polystyrene is used: - to build communication embankments on weak surfaces (peat, mules); - for the construction of traffic embankments next to existing facilities where the foundation foundation cannot be additionally loaded; - to rebuild transport embankments that experience excessive settlements. Replacing part of the soil with polystyrene effectively relieves the ground; - to relieve moving embankments, e.g. landslides; - when widening road embankments embedded in compressible ground. The use of expanded polystyrene in road engineering has initiated a road construction laboratory in Norway. Recent years have seen the development of this technology and mass implementations in many European countries (Norway, France, Sweden). However, in bridge engineering it can be used: - for building light bridge abutments on a weak bearing surface; - for filling the embankment behind the abutments, the ground of which should not be loaded with soil; - to fill the embankment behind the abutments, which cannot be loaded with horizontal soil pressure; - to fill the space above the arch of the arch bridges, e.g. during renovation and upgrading of the road class; - for forming "voids" in massive concrete structures; - for replacing ground backfill with polystyrene and for "unloading" retaining structures overloaded with horizontal forces. In addition, polystyrene is used in concrete works: - to form recesses, nests, furrows, channels or holes in concrete and reinforced concrete structures; - as a single-use form for casting concrete elements or shaping a complex invoice; - for creating space for expansion joints between concrete elements and in protecting buildings against the effects of frost: - for forming an insulating layer that protects soils endangered by frosts; - for thermal drainage protection under slope or slope strengthening (e.g. under the concrete spray of the nailed soil); - for the production of resin-soil-foamed polystyrene mixtures or concrete with foamed polystyrene crumbs as frost-resistant layers. The benefits of using foamed polystyrene in the above applications are measurable. They save time and money ędzy

Products description

In road engineering, polystyrene is used:

  • for the construction of embankment in communication on weak substrates (peat, mules);
  • for the construction of embankment in traffic next to existing facilities in which the foundation foundation can not be additionally loaded;
  • to remodel the embankment in traffic that will experience excessive subsidence. Replacing part of the soil with polystyrene effectively relieves the ground;
  • to relieve embankment in moving, e.g. landslides;
  • when widening the embankment in road sunk in compressible ground.

The use of expanded polystyrene in road engineering has initiated a road construction laboratory in Norway. Recent years have seen the development of this technology and mass implementations in many European countries (Norway, France, Sweden).

However, in bridge engineering it can be used:

  • for the construction of light bridge bridges on low-bearing ground;
  • for filling the embankment behind the abutments, the ground of which should not be loaded with soil;
  • for filling the embankment behind the abutments, which cannot be loaded with horizontal soil pressure;
  • for filling the space over the vaulted arch bridge, e.g. during renovation and upgrading of the road class;
  • for forming "voids" in massive concrete structures;
  • for replacing backfill with polystyrene and for "relieving" of retaining structures overloaded with horizontal forces.

In addition, expanded polystyrene is used in concrete works:

  • for forming recesses, nests, furrows, channel in or hole in concrete and reinforced concrete structures;
  • as a one-time use for casting concrete element in or shaping a complex invoice;
  • for creating space for expansion joints between concrete elements and for protecting buildings against the effects of frost:
  • for forming an insulating layer that protects land threatened with landings against freezing;
  • for thermal drainage protection under the strengthening of the slope or slope (e.g. under concrete spray of nailed soil);
  • for the production of resin-soil-polystyrene mixtures or concrete with polystyrene crumbs as frost-resistant layers.
